Friday pictures 12-22-'17 Christmas Edition

Christmas_theme_banner.jpg

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone!

It's finally time for the Christmas edition, been looking forward to this.

Spent a lot of my vacation time finishing my renders, which do include a few shots that i already did but improved upon.

You probably know that "great" moment when the Christmas holidays start and you have to decorate your house, shifting furniture, dragging that big box of decorations out of storage...?...

Well, i themed my renders on that. Smiley Very Happy

I might have added more, but after i added the tree my render time skyrocketed... so i kept it as is. (will post the render time as well, for the heck of it)

So on to my pictures:

Christmas_scene_1.jpg

Render time: 4:26:22

Christmas_scene_2.jpg

Render time: 5:49:35 (i think a virusscan might have run during this one)

Christmas_scene_3.jpg

Render time: 3:50:55

Christmas_scene_4.jpg

Render time: 4:14:13

Christmas_scene_5.jpg

Render time: 1:14:53

Christmas_scene_6.jpg

Render time: 2:47:39

As you can see, the renders that show a lot of that tree took a really long time.

I'm pretty pleased with the result, the lighting and background look so much better then on my earlier Christmas bauble renders.

For good measure: Everything except the tree was modeled with Inventor, the tree was downloaded from CadNav.

The garland and the mini trees had Hair&Fur added to them in 3DS Max.

Textured and rendered with Arnold in Max.

So, that's it for my contribution, what wonderful creations has everyone prepared?

Also, this will be my last render for this year.

Going to enjoy that last week of vacation and i'll probably pick it up in January again.

Best wishes for 2018!

Hi everyone,

Nice work @-niels-. Christmas tree and the balls are looking fantastic!

I ran into some problems when trying to create the garlands but with a little help from Niels (thanks again) and some alternate workflow I managed to get it to look as it should.

I wish everybody a wonderful Christmas and a Happy new year!!!!

Hi everyone,

@-niels- Very nice tree, looks natural en real! A lot of (render)time spent, but surely the result is awesome.

@Frank-Oosterwaal Great to see it worked out, looks very nice!

@mpatchus Tried to re-create you're decoration Santa from last week, unsuccessfully.... Yours look very pretty.

I finished decorating but only because I had help from Autodesk (I used an AutoCAD walkthrough tutorial scene). I ran out of time to make something very fancy.

I wish you all a great Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

J.

@Judith.Hageman Thanks.

Attached is my Santa Egg (2018 version).

I did this one using split faces to test the tools in the 2019 Beta.

The other eggs I did as simply cut extrusions.

@Frank-Oosterwaal sweet tinsel, nice touch! Thanks for showing your prize!

@mpatchus the light strand illuminating the ornaments is awesome!

Hi Kelly,

I took a closer look and it's not little Frosty The Snowman, it looks like R2D2. I think Santa left it for chris. There are more presents here, but all tags are missing.  Smiley Sad

Quick attempt or not I like your ornaments, very original. Wish you and your family great holidays.

Thank you for the Santa Egg Ornament @mpatchus! Smiley Happy

I never work with split faces, interesting way of modelling. I will give it a go and will show the results.
