举个例子，如果是compare and contrast，写个小essay，总先得找 book, journal, online newspaper之类的，先确定主题内容（thesis statement），有的放矢，然后再考虑文章结构，根据你想表述的论点确定是point-by-point 还是block-by-block,然后是千篇一律的intro,body paragraph,conclusion.最后考虑的才是“词语”“句型”。词语再好，结构不清楚或者跑题了…都pass不了的。

举个例子，最近找的一篇berkeley scientific journal上的Distance education versus the traditional classroom中的句子：Many students require an authoritative figure's presence in order to motivate them to participate actively, to pay full attention to lectures, or to invest more in study or assignments. When these students are under the conditions of perceived control and are aware of outcome expectations, power dynamics, or other social pressure, they tend to perform better than if left to self-efficacy.可能是这不出来这么专业的句子，但有些动词比如require, ensure, provide, motivate, tend to, serve as, encourage, enable，demonstrate之类的都是journal里出现频次很高的academic词汇，避免出现什么make, get这些词。多读多模仿，规律才能被自己总结和吸收，不推荐什么托福范文大全之类的东西…读起来明显感觉不一样，这不是走弯路么。不用什么花花肠子读起来全是词汇的句子，academic词汇加上supporting statement即可。（但如果实在不知如何下手的话…）

除了pay attention还有focus on, concentrate.

除了get还有obtain, attain, aquie...
