PURPOSE: To realize positive detection of AC power interruption during regenerative brake operation regardless of various conditions of power system or the magnitude of brake power. ;CONSTITUTION: The power converter for electric vehicle comprises a converter 5 for converting secondary voltage of a transformer 3 receiving AC single phase power into DC power, and an inverter 6 for inverting output from the converter 5 into AC three-phase power and performing rotation control of a motor 8. The power converter further includes means 10 for detecting voltage on the primary winding of the transformer 3, a band-pass filter 11 for extracting a specified frequency component from a detected voltage, means 12 for operating the difference between the output from the band-pass filter 11 and a voltage detected through the voltage detecting means 10, and a comparing means 14 which outputs an interruption detection signal of AC power supply when the absolute value of an output from the subtracting means 12 exceeds a preset value.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
