11月4日，安徽省教育厅发布了关于2019年拟申报设置本科学校的公示，备受关注的蚌埠医学院更名为蚌埠医科大学有了新进展。公示指出，据《高等教育法》、《民办教育促进法》及其实施条例、《普通本科学校设置暂行规定》等有关规定，经第四届安徽省高等学校设置评议委员会专家考察和评议，同意蚌埠医学院更名为蚌埠医科大学、安徽财经大学商学院转设为独立设置的民办普通本科高等学校等2所本科学校设置报请安徽省政府向教育部
