So much for GOG not wanting people to do first impressions..

Everything is ok, the time of silence seems to be over ;-) Surprised to see no official information on the website yet.

Features include 'Game inviting & joining <span class="glx-text--300 glx-text--magnolia">(soon)</span>' and 'App notifications <span class="glx-text--300 glx-text--magnolia">(soon)</span>'. Also, the FAQ section is a placeholder.

Oops, I clicked the "Join GOG Galaxy Beta" link and it told me it was sending me an invite (I already joined the Alpha so I assume joining the Beta is redundant). For some reason, I didn't expect an immediate action. I thought it was going to ask me for an email or if I "was sure."
