According to a report broadcast by CCTV on January 10, electric car charging stations will be installed along the Shanghai-Beijing highway.

The highway, a total length of 1262 km, will have filling stations installed on average every 50 km and drivers can fully charge their vehicles within 30 minutes. At a price of 0.65-0.8 RMB, the fuel costs would be half of driving a gasoline powered vehicle.

That means the total cost of traveling Beijing-Shanghai would be 400 RMB- pretty cheap. However, according to Tencent News, passengers would need to recharge 6-7 times during the journey, potentially adding an extra 3-3.5 hours to the journey.
