your wishlist for a Midrange Storage community

Hi, we're in the process of developing a bona fide Midrange Storage community that will encompass the Celerra and CLARiiON Open Exchange forums but also allow us to share more tips and best practices and bring our customers closer to the subject matter experts in the business.

What are the 3 top things you'd like to see in such a community?

i would like to see "lab" time where community members get access to a Clariion or a Celerra and tinker around, try different deployment scenarios. This is very popular on Cisco forums i participate on. Since this would be open community forum you could have participants who are not EMC customers yet, they would get a chance to actually test drive EMC gear, see what it's all about.

"Lab time" - that's an interesting idea.  Are you talking about something like the Celerra simulator that would be available through the community?  I'm not familiar with what Cisco does, but I'll do a little exploring and learn more.

Thanks for the suggestion!

somebody from Cisco sets up a lab and then community members come up with a scenario of what they want to test. There are community groups that prepare for tests so they setup different routers, play with different configurations. Simulators are nice but they are very limited in configuration and performance. Let's say somebody wants to play around with SAN Copy as they are getting ready to migrate from HP storage to EMC . If we had a couple of real Clariion in the lab, we could test different SAN Copy options, configurations so customers would not have to figure this out in production environment. You get more comfortable using EMC gear, you become more successful with your project and you are more likely to recommend EMC for future purchases
