Battery and Yellowgate fix via software?

This morning one of the hinges on my gate broke.

Gategate.

Yellowgate is very real. There is quiet a difference between the 4 & 4S I have. the genius I showed the phone to, acknowleged the issue and asked me to watch it for a week or so.

Yellow screen is supposedly caused by glue outgassing and should fix itself over time (they say). Hopefully a s/w fix will fix batterygate

No, it won't. Your eyes will either adjust or it will drive you insane. This is not the "glue" issue that you are referring to.

When people buy new devices they immediately look for the cons. It drives them crazy when nothing can be found.

My iPhone loses reception when I go inside a friggin cave!!! Reception-gate!!!!!!!! I hate my iPhone!!!

If you don't like the phone, return it. Return it. My screen it a little yellow too. When I took a picture of a school bus, I noticed that the bus was yellow. Yellow-gate!!!!!!!!!!

I guess I'm the only one who's iPhone 4S was whiter then my iPhone 4.

Yellowgate, that's funny. It's not a problem; it's just a different color calibration on the screen, a warmer tone compared to the cooler tone of the 4. I actually prefer the warmer look of the 4S, it is more accurate from a video calibration standpoint as well. The whites on the 4S are closer to true white than on the 4. Trust me, I calibrate TVs all the time but, I know people will not believe me. It is different than the 4 and people perceive things that are different as problems. I'm just saying that it is not a true problem needing fixing IMO. Now, the battery issues need to be addressed, that is driving me crazy.

I can't say if the screen on my 4S is whiter than the one on the 4 I used to have, but it's definitely whiter than the screen on my wife's 4S. I was worried about the whole yellow screen tint issue when I bought it mainly because of one review in particular that showed a 4 and 4S side by side where there was a HUGE difference in screen color. I guess I just got lucky. If I can find the review/pic, I'll post it.

If it is *not* glue, then I don't really care and will adjust to it. I can deal with some warmer, calmer hues to life.

Most of the battery issues are people who restored from a backup and had some sort of issue. If they restore again and set up as new then they will no longer have battery issues. This is not new to the 4S.

Yellowing again is not new to the 4S. Some of the people experiencing it are seeing glue and the issue will resolve itself. The others got a screen that truly is more yellow, this was also an issue on some of the iPhone 4S, especially refurbs.

The tinting to the screens could be modified via software if Apple were to provide us with color controls through settings. Not that it really matters that much, the differences are slim.

As for the battery, I think the only adjustment possible is the users themselves. It's never going to get the battery life the iPhone 4 did simply due to more powerful hardware.

The phone still provides the best battery life of any smart phone of this type on the market.

Yellowgate: I was one of the first people to complain here, and at Apple. After six days of use, my screen has improved dramatically. The yellow tinge is nearly gone, the contrast is much better, the blacks are blacker, and the whites are more neutral. I am very happy.

Batterygate: I did not have problems with the battery, but I did notice it did not last as long as my 4. After restoring the phone as new, and depleting the battery completely for a full charge, my battery life has improved considerably. On my last charge, I got 7:26 usage and 14:44 standby. I should also note that the last 1 percent of charge seems to hold much more juice than the top five percent combined! The battery status indicator is not exactly linear.

go to an apple store and look at all the iPhone 4S models. they all vary so much in the tint of the screens. the black ones for the most part looked worse (more yellow and washed out) than the whites.

my first iPhone 4S was having software kernel panics every day so i got that replaced...other than the software glitches, the screen was great.

the replacement iphone had a pretty noticeable gap in the home button area so i had them swap it out AGAIN (same day) for another new one.

the third one had a really crummy yellow screen that looks especially yellow after using the other ones but obviously apple was done giving me a replacement so i went to another apple store that was a mile away and told the guy about my unhappiness with the screen so he took out 2 replacements and let me compare and i picked the one that i thought had the best whites on the screen.

guys, none of these phones are made the exact same. i have used 4 of them and they each are slightly different in the build from the way the home button feels, to the gaps on some edges, to the camera rattle noise. i just know i could not live with one that had a crappy yellow display.

When I got my 4S I did not restore from back up (I wish I did cause I lost all of my saved games).I set up the phone as new and I have been having battery issues since day one. Restoring as new does not stop the battery issue.

Lol. Ten different iPhones = ten different screens. Some yellow, some blue, some in between. It's been like that since 29/7/07.

No, ofcourse not. Glue caused SMALL, I repeat, SMALL, yellow blotches last year. A "yellow" screen is a matter of color temperature and has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with glue.

Yep, and by now, you'd expect the iPhone screens to be like macaroni and cheese. People just need something to complain about sometimes..

these "gate" things have to stop. entirely normal manufacturing defects (no manufacturing process is perfect) is NOTHING like watergate...its just dumb

In that case a trip to an Apple store is probably your best bet!
