A new God Game - Universim - is looking for funds on Kickstarter and it does look like a pretty good concept. I like the "round earth" premise like with Planetary Annihilation.

According to Kicktraq it is trending towards 141% of its goal, so it's probably going to get backed and then some. It has also just got the Greenlight on Steam too.
I just backed Universim with $20, which gets me the DRM free game and beta access at some point next year. According to Kicktraq it's heading for about 104% of the goal now, so it is getting a little close to call!

They have an estimated release date of October 2015. It looks as though their ideas are pretty advanced, even though it's only in the pre-alpha stage. Hopefully it'll get backed with a multiplayer stretch goal reached too.

Indeed at this point it's just a pretty graphical concept, one to keep an eye on though.
The big issue I personally have is that the concept will live or die on it's game play, esp long term and there's no examples of that yet because it's so early.
Spore was a great concept with so much potential but the game play got stale fast.

It made me think of Spore too, trying not to judge it in relation to that mess though. >.<
It actually looks really good... just, as Pob said, hard to tell without seeing the gameplay... I ~might~ back it... hmm...
It has reached it's $320,000 goal with 3 days remaining, there is a stretched goal of $400,000 for getting dinosaurs!
It looks like they are aiming for 2016 for retail release now by the way. A bit of a wait!

I'm really wanting this game now! Yeah, that clip you showed me of it made me want it more. It does kind of remind me of Spore, but a much better version of Spore. Universim is going to be epic. But, 2016 is so far away!!
