This is in no way my development. I have just found this out after a lot of searching. Original threads have not been updated and hence they are not working. Also, the process has changed so I thought I will make an updated thread which works with the latest version of chrome.

Have you ever wanted to get your hands on the latest game, only to find that the Google Play (Android Market) thought it wasn't compatible with your phone?
Maybe you don't have a Tegra 3 device, but you're pretty sure an Exynos4412 could handle it still.
App not available in your country
APK Downloader will allow you to download an apk file from the Android Market directly to your desktop rather than to your device.
You'll need the latest version of Chrome then you supply your device ID, email address and password (all stored locally on your computer to grab the Android Market cookie).
From there you pick the app you want and you'll have the apk file on your computer, allowing you to sideload it onto any of your Android devices!
Requirements
Google Chrome - Download
Apk Downloader Extension
2.0.0 (apps.evozi.com) - Download Thanks to @Ja_som
1.5.1 (apps.evozi.com)-Download
1.5.0 (Lekenstein Version)-Download
1.4.3 - Download
1.4.2: |ZIP| |CRX|

Or you can use this page to download your app. Thanks to @Ja_som
How To Use
  1. Download the pre-packaged extension: apk-downloader.crx.
  2. Click the Settings icon on the right of your URL bar.
  3. Select Tools > Extensions.
  4. Once the download has finished, drag the download to the Extensions page.
  5. When you are asked to Confirm New Extension, press the Add button.
  6. Now click on the Option link
    extension.png
  7. To be able to download from the Play Store, you need to authenticate all requests. Therefore you need to "log in to your Google Account" at the extension's option page.

Please uninstall earlier (1.4 and earlier) versions of this extension before updating to the this latest version
    For the Device ID:
    1. Type *#*#8255#*#* in the Dial Pad
It will take you to the Google Service Monitor

    2. Find your Device ID
  8. After Logging In open Play Store and find your app
  9. Click on the small icon in the right of the Address Bar

    Voila! Your app is downloaded

Hi,

It may be strange, but my S3 (Omega Rom) doesn't respond to all the secret codes :(
I can type it in the dialer, but at the last character, nothing happends...
Is there any way to "activate" it or something ?

Thanks

If you are interested in this extension then you can use this app from play store..

I can't say why you are not able to get to the Google Service Monitor screen as this code works even with 3rd party dialers..

Any chance to download apk's that are not supported by my device?

I have a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, which is my only Android device. I'd like to use several apps that are seemingly unsupported, but I have found older apk's on the web that work like a charm, so chances are the newest versions will do just as well.

My hopes were high that apk downloader might finally be able to download those, but no - downloads only stuff that is supported by my device, which is in my case rather useless as I can just install it directly from the playstore.

Any advice?

Works great by me.
Only two thing can make it doesnt work:
1. Wrong Device ID typed in extension options
2. Payed apk cannot download.

Regards

It is fixed new Google Play Store on APK Downloader version 1.4.3.
Read and download on original web site:

    APK Downloader v 1.4.3

The problem with the extension is that it assumes if no price is given on the site, it is free and should show the download button. However, the Play Store Markup changed to always display the tag and use zero for free apps instead of no price at all.

Just change line 17 in google_play.js in the extensions js folder to:
    showButton = !price || price.getAttribute("content") == 0;

After the change, disable and reenable the extension for Chrome to catch up on the change.

On Mac OS X the extensions are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default/Extensions/. It's one extension per folder with rather cryptic folder names. The APK downloader is one of those.

On windows google_play.js file is at

    %USERPROFILE%/AppData/Local/Google/Chrome/User Data/Default/Extensions/jdpglblnnaocjhfenhockgamhoogihfi/2.0.0_0/assets/js

If you are talking about downloading of apps.. It is not working for me as well.. However of you talking about adding the extension then it should work..
