FUSE-based file system backed by Amazon S3. Mount a bucket as a local file
system read/write. Store files/folders natively and transparently.

s3fs is stable and is being used in number of production environments,
e.g., rsync backup to s3.

s3fs is actively being developed and maintained. It's operation has been
stable for some time, but its maintenance has recently been picked up by

        Hi

I'm attaching some packaging I've put together today; unfortunately, as
 I explain in
 http://code.google.com/p/s3fs/issues/detail?id=109
this can't be redistributed (at least not in Debian) due to the
conflict between GPL and OpenSSL licenses.

   Cheers,

Subject: Trying to build a package
Date: Wed, 10 Aug 2011 20:13:20 +0200
Hi all!

After reading http://code.google.com/p/s3fs/issues/detail?id=109 I
still don't know if it is possible to get a package of s3fs into the
official debian repository.

I can build a .deb on my machine, but as I enabled non-free already
I'm not sure if my package is without conflict for the main
repository. This is the first package I tried to build, so I'm really
new to all this.

Can someone please give me summary on this issue and what needs to be
done to get s3fs back into the official repository?

Carsten

retitle 601789 RFP: s3fs -- Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) File System
noowner 601789
tag 601789 - pending
thanks

Hi,

This is an automatic email to change the status of s3fs back from ITP
(Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug hasn't seen
any activity during the last 12 months.

If you are still interested in adopting s3fs, please send a mail to
<control@bugs.debian.org> with:

retitle 601789 ITP: s3fs -- Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) File System
 owner 601789 !
 thanks

However, it is not recommended to keep ITP for a long time without acting on
the package, as it might cause other prospective maintainers to refrain from
packaging that software. It is also a good idea to document your progress on
this ITP from time to time, by mailing <601789@bugs.debian.org>.

Thank you for your interest in Debian,
