Came to watch a football game with some friends, and I was recommended to give this local place a try. The food was good and we liked the variety of options on the menu.
I enjoyed my chicken fried chicken new mexican style and would get it again. My bf had an open face burger. He liked it but wished he could sub the rice for fries. We ended up ordering a side of green chile cheese fries, which was a better choice. The chile is not hot, but the red had the most flavor.
Service was a bit slow, given it was a game night, but we were not in a hurry to leave. Overall, we enjoyed our food and drinks. Wish there were more local drafts or local drink options, but they did have a nice variety on the menu. Nice sports bar to meet with friends or watch a game solo.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ellen S.Albuquerque, NM06Mar 2, 2024
We rarely go there anymore because of the slow service, but would really like to support a local business.
Love the ambiance and food is just ok. I can't tell if anyone is managing the place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - John T.San Francisco, CA058Feb 5, 2024
Let me start with the place: cozy, well appointed, large bar, lots of drafts and bottles to choose from, if you can get served...
1/5 The food: Blue cheese burger special was a frozen patty over-cooked, never seasoned. Kitchen or server ignored my request for no tomato (got a whole garden) and never the onion. Tasteless, and run of the mill. Slaw watery and obviously not made in house.
0/5 The service: if you're not a regular, or flirt with the barmaids, forget service. Two young ladies more occupied with their phones and flitting about with regulars than serving. 10 minutes to get initial drink both times, follow up drink took getting up from my seat and hunting her down. Just abysmal.
Would not return after the two tries.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - brandy b.NM, NM02Dec 10, 2023
Literally the worst service. I went in with my family at 6:30 to have dinner. First of all, nowhere online or outside does it say "no minors allowed after 6:00pm". We went in and sat down, took 15 minutes for a waitress to come take our drink orders. She then proceeded to take our drink orders including my obvious young teenage brother's. Five minutes later either the manager or a different server comes to our table rudely asking to see everyone's IDs to which we ask "Why?", since my brother is clearly under 21, and he tells us we have to leave since he's a minor. We didn't see a sign till we had to get up from our table and walk out the door. There's ONE tiny little sign when you enter, not even noticeable. If you're not gonna let families have dinner together after 6:00PM, put a sign outside and online.

The food was good! Some of the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. The service was great, she was so sweet. The vibes inside were obviously very much a sports bar feel. Cool decor though!

I've been here twice now for lunch and really enjoyed the sandwiches as well as a great beer selection. The staff is always friendly. Will definitely return.

Let me start with the positive first - the food was excellent! We got the traditional English Fish and Chips for lunch and I have to say it is the best Fish and Chips I've had in Albuquerque. Sadly, the service was not good. There were only a few customers in the place, one at the bar and two tables, yet we waited almost 15 minutes before being seated. I actually had to go in search of someone to seat us and found two employees leaning behind the bar. one said, "We'll be with you soon". Finally another waitress came by and said "you can sit anywhere" and hurried off. (They had the please wait to be seated sign up at the entrance.) After finding a table we waited, and waited, and waited, and were actually getting up to leave when a waitress brought us menus. At no time did we feel like we were welcome.

This place has great food, but Jesus are the staff unprofessional. The blonde bartender who looks like she juices is always talking down to people. The fat guy manager is SUPER creepy with the wait staff. I was sitting at a table nearby where he was talking to a potential new girl and he kept checking her out and complimenting her and she asked him to kindly stop. The kitchen staff are always yelling obscenities and I can hear them up front. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're just trying to relax. 1/5.

Today is the first time I have visited the Horse and Angel. I have traveled and dined all over the US. Today is one of those days that everything has gone wrong. Everything. I was so surprised to be treated so kindly at this place. Over the top genuine kindness from multiple servers. I need to name them. Azalea and tamia. The manager was also amazing. This single experience tuned my day from negative into positive and I couldn't be more grateful. Excellent environment, food, and most of all people. Thank you Azelea and crew.
