JERUSALEM, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Israeli defense electronics company Elbit Systems said on Wednesday that it will supply an Asia-Pacific country an aerial intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance system for 167 million U.S. dollars.
The company added that there is a growing demand for its UAV-based (unmanned aerial vehicle) intelligence solutions because of customers' growing demand for greater capabilities to respond effectively to a growing range of operational needs.
Elbit Systems did not name the country.
The new deal, which will take place over a period of 20 months, joins a 68-million-dollar contract to supply a UAV for the European Union, according to the company's report in early November.
Elbit Systems, founded in 1966 and headquartered in Israeli northern city of Haifa, earned 92 million dollars in the third quarter of 2018.
Elbit Systems' backlog increased to 8.065 billion dollars at the end of the second quarter of 2018, compared to 7.3 billion dollars at the end of the parallel quarter of 2017.
Elbit Systems is currently completing its takeover of Israel Military Industries (IMI), which it acquired from the state for 1.8 billion dollars earlier in 2018.
