On September 13, 2023, Vice President Han Zheng met with Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Saqr Ghobash in Beijing.

Han Zheng said that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, China and the UAE continue to deepen and substantiate their relationship. China is willing to work with the UAE to follow through on the important common understandings of the two heads of state, strengthen high-level exchanges, enhance strategic mutual trust, firmly support each other, consolidate political friendship, expand practical cooperation, step up people-to-people and cultural exchanges, advance collective cooperation, and strengthen multilateral collaboration, to continuously enrich the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the UAE. Han Zheng extended congratulations to the UAE on becoming a member of the BRICS family. China is willing to share development opportunities with the UAE in advancing Chinese modernization, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

Saqr Ghobash said that it is the unswervingly political will of the UAE to continuously consolidate the comprehensive strategic partnership between the UAE and China. He thanked China for supporting the UAE in joining the BRICS cooperation mechanism. Noting that next year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the UAE and China, Saqr Ghobash hopes to continuously enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including economy and trade, investment, legislation, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
