Experimental CC430 good for development?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC430F6137

Hello,

I have a couple EM430F6137RF900 evaluation kits that I received when they first came out. They use the XCC430F6137 IC, which is experimental. I'm starting a new project. Should I just go ahead and use these, or were there enough problems with them to warrant just buying new eval kits?

IC Labeling:

Thanks,

Derek

  • Derek,

The modifications that were made between revision B to C are enough to recommend using the current revision, E.

The CC430 Wireless Development Kit no longer ships with experimental silicon for the CC430F6137.

The webpage is being updated as we speak to remove the lines stating that the device still ships with experimental silicon.

    Best regards,

    Austin Miller

  • Thanks - that's good to know. Better to know in advance than to run into some problem just because the boards I have use the experimental silicon. Can I swap the boards I have for non-experimental silicon? It's probably best for TI.

BTW, one grudge with those dev boards - there's no serial port! No RS-232 or even USB. Grrr - it makes development more difficult than it needs to be.
