Authentication using Active Directory

Are there any actual examples on how to authenticate against Active
Directory using DirectoryServic es? I've combed the docs but haven't found
much in the way of examples.

I found....
Imports System.Director yServices
Dim myDirectoryEntr y As DirectoryEntry
myDirectoryEntr y = New DirectoryEntry( "LDAP://...")

but that's about it.

At one time, I had planned on doing some stuff with AD more than just
extracting the user's logon from the servervariables object. I looked
around and didn't find much either but here's the links to what little I
did find on the subject. Goodluck.

OH yea. I forgot to mention another option. If you go to Google code
search and type in System.Director yServices you'll get some code samples
that may also help you.

Hello I posted a thread about this a while back, but I can't actually find it again so I can reply to it with the solution I found, so I'm making a new thread and hoping it goes to the top of the Google search results for the error like the previous thread. This is actually a solution to a problem, not a call for help, so you can stop reading now unless you're actually interested in the solution :)

I have forms based authentication working, using my Active Directory for authentication. I have a web page that creates a user in active directory. When I was using IIS authentication it worked fine, now it doesn't. I'm assuming it's running in the context of the IIS anonymous user. How can I get it to run as the user that logged in with the forms based authentication? --

Hey all, I would like to preface my question by stating I am still learning ASP.net and while I am confident in the basics and foundation, the more advanced stuff is still a challenge. Ok. :)

I have an application that communicates with the Company's Active Directory to get the OU of the users. This said application is an ASP.Net web site and has the Windows Authentication enabled. . Now, here's the anomaly: If the application is run on a Server using IIS 5.1, the application works like a charm and the communcation with the Active Directory occurs without any problem.

I am new to LDAP and Directory Services, and I have a project that requires me to authenticate users against a Sun Java System Directory Server in order to access the application. I have found dozens of examples of how to authenticate users against Active Directory, but AD seems to be a different animal than Sun Java System Directory Server. Could someone provide me with an example of how to authenticate a user against a Directory...

I have a client with a need for multiple app authentication. The apps are all asp.net apps but may be on different servers. The user just wants a single logon and them be free to use five or six different asp.net applications. Is this feasible? -- Regards, Gary Blakely

I have been trying to find a solution to this on the Internet for months. Literally, ages and ages and ages, praying that someone in the open-source community has enough knowledge to put together an LDAP connector for MySQL Community to connect to Active Directory. Alas, nothing. So I figured I'd try doing something similar. My business problem is/was as follows: I use Active Directory on Windows Server 2003 to manage my small corporate...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
